smoky and stuffed

xD now i smell like bbq chicken wing, satay, and i probably had too much to drink.
got back not long ago from mintz's house. yay bbq! i like bbq! but i dunno how to set fire and i'm lazy to bbq! hahaha. yumyum.

alright. i should blog in a chronological manner. don't wanna be labelled incoherent as i was so called. >_>

went to ah ma's house in the afternoon xD although the L in SALMON couldn't go, ah gong's surname is Lee. so there's another L. we snacked until (almost) full as a prelude to lunch and lohei. haha nice nice food! makes me happy! home made food! makes me super happy! and lo hei was messy xD as always. but there was an idea to cut up a plastic bag so later no need wipe table and just wrap up the rubbish xD

nice green plastic bag :D

auyong also brought wassants from provence :D
T_T didn't manage to try her masala tea T__T

wa, we always drag and drag time and talk and talk at ah ma's house =x
before we knew it, it was 430pm and we had to go xD
running super late.
but not before we demolished 2 bottles of Moscato wine xD womg.

later at tpy, introduced blardee ren to my favourite bags xD the pirated le sport sac / pro sports bags. she ended up buying 2 bags! at $20 in total. wahahaha. the green one still there! the last one! omg. dunno why no one buy huh! so cute!!!!!!! awesomely cute la. maybe too cute for ppl le. xD

halfway went to buy a bottle of the same wine then mintz and zinkalinks suddenly arrived D: awww caught in the act. zonked out at mos burger for awhile then 28-ed to mintz's house xD wow i just realised it's awesomely easy to go there! i can just walk to the bus stop from my house and zoom down and then walk a bit to reach her place. lalala. i can go disturb her younger bro! LOL. righttt. lalala.

and the wine was served to the aunties and uncles hahaha. moscato overdose man. but shiok ah. one day must try the one mad wen is in love with! the Villa M one. $45. she says it's like bliss. ooo that i must try~~~~

aye, tired! hvn't do my japa hw and tomorrow got class! and i'm sleepy! and and and~~~~~~ i can't rmb. time to sleeeeep! night~

nature-ly 20

rofl. today my sister turned 20! took half day leave to celebrate with her.
actually i'm too darn tired to blog properly about it. so perhaps i'll just state the route i took today.

1) [walk] office to imm bus stop
2) [bus] 502 to delphi orchard
3) [walk] delphi orchard to tanglin mall
4) [bus] tanglin mall to near dempsey rd
5) [walk] almost the whole of dempsey
6) [bus] dempsey rd to botanic gdns
7) [walk] almost the whole of botanic gdns
8) [bus] botanic gdns to orch rd scotts
9) [mrt] orch rd to tpy
10) [walk] around tpy to see a few cake shops
11) [bus] from tpy to home

shag! but actually i'm still energetic! hahaha.
hvn't been to tanglin mall / botanic gdns / dempsey rd in AGES.
so many things have changed.
we did like a mini nature walk around dempsey and at botanic gdns.

encountered a few squirrels, a few types of birds, a red dragonfly, weird dude in car, nice food, many flowers, flashing photographers, 2 swans (of which, one went aggro), the rain, insects, random bag sale and the like.

think sis will update her blog with all the nature stuff that she took pics of using her camera.

while walking out of dempsey rd, this car passed by us and this dude rolled down the window, peered out at us and shouted "HELLO~!!!!!", then drove past and rolled window back up.

sis and i were like ... :O!?
mom was ?_?
freaking hilarious.

dempsey is really so different in the daytime. only been there at night twice so far. once was for german sausages, a cheese & crackers platter and drinks at a friend's bdae celebration. the other time went there to do some filming of the eerie full moon and a dark path with a weird house. hmm. in the day it's like a nature trek with bars and watering holes and cafes and grocery shops and childcare centers and playgrounds etc. really quite targeted to the atas clientèle la. cos most of the people who frequent dempsey drive there.

it rained then stopped. then started raining again after we got to botanic gdns. the last i went there was so many years ago... at least 5 years. but my memories go way back to when i was a wee tot, going there often with my dad and mom before my sis was born. when dad still drove around in his blue van. haha. then we would go play with the big water sphere and i would summon all my tot strength to change the direction of its spin. i had to use 2 hands, and even so, i think my dad helped. LOL. then we would go see the cannonball tree near the entrance. always so big. and then i had to jump over the big big longkang that was very scary because my legs were so short and the longkang was as big as i was! but once i jumped across, we would soon reach swan lake and see the majestic birds gracing the lake's surface.

now... desecrated. wtf there's a building in the middle now, with a foodcourt. wtf. the fishpond i can still understand. the science labs i can still understand. the library i can still understand. the foodcourt i really cannot stomach (pun intended). eeeeee. it's really not as wonderful as it was last time. where's my water sphere lah! the rust-red marble, turning with the waterflow upon the big pedestal. the heavy ball that by now, i would have easily manipulated. and the swans! only a miserable pair. hiding in the corner of the murky lake. being subjected to flash upon flash of photographers' cameras. blinded. disturbed. then they try to bite. but can only grate their beaks upon the wood of the bridge. so poor thing. last time got so many more. and i think there were black swans too. and they really were royalty of the lake, and we would excitedly feed them breadcrumbs. such grand things, the cygnets of that time. now... they are more like kings made into jesters of their own court! singing songs that only fools understand.

sian.

anyway. i'm so happy i found the bag i saw long ago! think got at least 1.5yrs. because i saw that green bag, that got me interested in le sport sac. and at that time, it was the start of the trend to carry those cute designs instead of those typical brown monogram design bags. later i rmb darl got a bag like this, but diff design, and then i saw more and more ppl carrying, and then some places sold but i never could find that green one. began to think that maybe it wasn't the same brand. but it was leh... then one of the designers, tokidoki, came to sg for the comicon and i rmb feeling so ashamed for the ppl who carried the bags that had his design and shamelessly gave him things to autograph. unwittingly insulting. as most of these bags are probably one of the most sell-able pirated items in the market now. and i do admit that last year, i got a bag too but from that time i first saw the green design, i hvn't seen it thus... until today! and i got it i got it i got it!

somehow ties in with the nature theme of this post today also. hahaha. of course it's nicer upclose la. only 2 bags were in stock. =o happy happy! dunno why so few ppl like green. but seems in 2009, i see more and more ppl wearing green. eeeee. which also reminds me how much i like the green mrt station. hinthintpraypraytogodofHR.

and yes, some ppl may think it's juvenile, but i think it's better to be juvenile than a stick-in-the-mud.

cny randomness

nothing like another spate of randomness to usher in yet another random year.
eve's eve was rather normal, did the usual D&D, actually wanted to lo hei with the peeps but there weren't enough people due to last minute comeuppances (as usual). liang court was disappointingly mekajiki-less. but the crepes were rather tasty. bumped into shushu, bj and friend there, and i went over and spooked them like a long-forgotten ghost. later rejoined the herd and had much-missed haato that somehow... didn't quite measure up as it always had. =( plus the arcades now are damn boring and filled with annoying people. while the playgrounds are deathly silent, as if the evildoings of the Computer Age still haunt it with wires and webs.

sunday. eve proper. reunion dinner at night. heartening to see familiar smses come in. didn't spend such a boring night in the end. it rained.

monday. first day. still tickled by the previous day's comments from my aunt and some smses i received in the morning. made a phonecall. smiled. then. stomach started to show signs of discontent not once, but three times in the day. diarrhea D: finger pointing at previous meal began. chose random destination for lunch and found random place to eat. now proud owner of random discount card (darl it's your fave place) after eating up a storm of $100.60. food was enjoyed. pleased. later learned of a partial solar eclipse. sat randomly outside near a fountain to stare at the sky till sunspots filled our vision. people who passed by thought this motley crew of an almost-80yr old aunt, a mom and her two daughters were crazy. we should have placed a sign saying "NEW YEAR'S ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY" on our heads.

plugging. sister's blog. please go view.
linked here.
she's been complaining there aren't enough page views.

tuesday. today. sun's been glaring madly, as if infuriated by yesterday's blasphemous act of the moon covering it partially. roasting my head. giving me a headache. also didn't know scanning and choosing would take so long. praying for good news. encountered idiots as usual. inescapable, unavoidable.

wednesday. and it's back to the grind as usual.

幸せな画

happiness is...

when something transforms from...

to...

and the day i can read books from a 2nd hand store...

life is a question mark and a roll of the dice,

but life is what one makes out of whatever one is assigned; one's lot in life.

hazukashii koto

i feel so embarrassed that i keep reading in the news abt young ppl who suddenly die while physically exerting themselves.

then i read abt active senior citizens who climb mountains and run marathons.

i feel so ashamed when walking to work, my colleague who is 3 times my age, can walk faster than i can.

i feel so paiseh when i see my friend's mom is so slim and flexible and energetic.

the generation of today really sucks.

i predict in the year 2100, young babies will spend childhood to adulthood in permanent strollers.

now so many parents putting their children in strollers until they are 3yrs old or dunno how old.

old enough to play CS on psp still can sit stroller?!?! walk la pls.

old enough to run around and throw temper tantrum still cry when the sun too hot or walk too much?

last time kids keep running around, now the kids want to do nothing except sit at home in the shade and use computer?

no wonder now the generation looks more and more hunched (miniature hunchbacks of notre dame), although tech savvy but unhealthy, inconsiderate although more intelligent, rich society people but more attitude?

what's all this nonsense.

indeed the fast food generation will grow to look as round as the burgers they consume.

if you compare back to last time, people were so skinny. even those size 12 considered very big size. now it's the norm to see size 10 or 12 or 14... maybe due to our better nutrition and also our dormant, busy, unhealthy lifestyle.

the encouragement to eat macs and fast food stems from the convenience (which is an evil thing indeed) and the quickness because we cannot afford to waste time.

rushing rushing, itsumo isogashisou.
feel like going on hiatus into the mountains or on a nice warm beach somewhere.
where the ocean and my garden provides and the sky is endlessly blue on a nice day.

D: it's too tempting at $5... somemore all so chio and juicy... maa...... i grabbed the salmon belly sashimi and the salmon sashimi and some natto sushi... D:

i just realised i spent abt $14 + $12 + $11 + $7.40 + $5.80 +$0.80 = ???

wa siao liao. books and breads and sushi and wassants and toffee O and TNP and... OMGGGGGGG!

it's not cheap living in this world!

after darl went off, i walked to central mall to try my luck at getting Petit Provence's famous wassants. but i saw this...

what is it? baby in a stroller?!? shen me da jing xiao guai?!?!

eh scary leh.
notice the half opened eyes, imagine the pupils looking up at you through those eyes.
the baby parked in the stroller at the bakery... i could feel a scary aura.
so from its left side, i walked around it to the right side...

the whole head s l o w l y turned and followed my movement,
the eyes unblinking,
like those chucky dolls you know.

so i walked to the extreme right side and its head turned all the way to the side...
luckily it's not an owl baby and can't turn its head 360 degrees.
else i'd really freak out.
and luckily the stroller was blocking -_-
omg.

but i got my wassant bread! oishiiiii.
almost had no cash left to pay -_- luckily my ez link card there always got reserve $10. -_-

endless journey back to tpy... still had to look for my TNP. went to 3 places before i found it -_- tsukaa... then went to withdraw okane. sigh my account....... not enough for my retirement.......

i think if money is the only motivating factor left... warui to omou.
kawatta hou ga iin kamo.
sonna wa yaribeki ja nai na?

our lives, our modern lives.
are they the contributing factor to our doom?
how the onset of aches and pains and toxins arrive so early in life...
how myopia is a common ailment of 99% of folk.
how people are so insatiable and always tearing tooth and nail at each other...
if not physically as we did eons ago, but breaking each other down psychologically.
it's the downward spiral...
although we are able to improve our average lifespan, and have made so many innovations and advancements...
but has the quality of life really improved?

with convenience, arises laziness and lack of exercise.
with technological advancement, arises a dependence on machines and computers and soft copy, instead of the ability to do things manually and to source things from hardcopy.
with transportation, arises pollution and congestion.
with money, our tastebuds have evolved to that of the rich food that we consume daily...
if you feed a dog human food, it will die soon.
is the same food, in actuality, toxic to humans?
we consume what is tasty, not what is healthy?
of course healthy can be tasty, but when surrounded by places that use much oil, seasoning, salt, by way of frying, with enhanced richness etc etc...
and besides, many people these days don't eat well due to a high stress lifestyle, with not enough time to enjoy our food, and we have all forgotten how to chew our food slowly, to ruminate...
stress can kill a person, in so many ways.
if you are not psychologically well, you are not well.
however strong your body is, if your mental state is in shreds, the invisible ailments will manifest themselves physically sooner or later...

that's why i always wish for happiness first.
because with happiness, there will be health, and you will be driven to excel, and thus the money will come naturally.

happiness is free, but it is a rare commodity indeed.
happiness is not chanced upon; it is created.
a strong mind breeds a strong body.

my mom wondered aloud:
maybe stress creates cancer cells -- the mutation is hence caused by stress.
maybe cancer cells lay dormant in a non-stressed person, who, when stressed, they become activated.
so does that mean, cancer cells are physical manifestations of our mental state...?
well, not really.

but in a sense, it's true that the mental state really contributes much to one's state of being.

how ironic that in a place of healing, people actually take a turn for the worse.
sometimes i wonder why.

the lack of sunshine is depressing,
a thousand days, a thousand grays.
cataract calling, counteract culling.

sore loser, born loser.
pride and prejudice is a classic and the truth.

purple sparkles out of the corner of my eye,

one piano recital and 10,000 (random) songs

after work (which was a BITCH, and where my breakfast became my lunch and i didn't have lunch, nor dinner until 11pm+) vehemently decided that i would catch the piano recital at smu. victor khor, a local russian-trained pianist, played piano transcriptions of choice Radiohead songs.

1. Airbag
2. Fake Plastic Trees
3. There, There
4. Let Down
5. No Surprises
6. Like Spinning Plates
7. Black Star
8. Subterranean Homesick Alien
9. How I Made My Millions
10. You

i'm not disappointed, neither am i impressed.
well, of course he's good! his technique's very good! there's emotion in his playing too.
but he's not amazing to the point where your hairs stand in awe and the nape of your neck tingles.
and he's very quiet and shy... it's like a very private conversation between him and the piano and the audience feels shut off, closed off.
I'm amazed at his page-turning skills lol.
and smu blatantly plugs their events shamelessly.

radiohead into piano is... interesting.
not very nice when it goes all jangly, jarring and messy.
sounds like a tumble of a heap of notes, prefer the original.
however, the layers of melody, weaving, echoing, clashing yet linking...
are very intriguing.

thought i saw my lecturer there. could have been mistaken. looks like, yet doesn't look quite like... like something is not right...

after which, went to the Cathay. stumbled on their cd warehouse sale.
wtf i spent $36+ bucks lah!

3 random piano/bass/guitar cds for dad at $2.95 each.
2 VCD sets of ghost in the shell / S.A.C. (Stand Alone Complex) Gig 2 at $4.95 each.
Death Proof by dir. Quentin Tarantino at $6.95
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at $6.95

3 random CDs that were so tempting because it was like playing gachapon.
saw the covers were randomly interesting, so bought the CDs.
about $1 or $1.50 each.

Took Quarks - Quarksland out for a spin. $1.50.
It's pretty awesome.

I'll let you know if one-t L'ALBUM - the one-t odc... is good ($1.50)

Same goes for ULTRAMONOTONE ウルトラモノトーン - SUGAR EXPERIMENT STATION ($1)

*************edit 1252am***************

quarksland - interesting sound. dunno how to explain. alternative and experimental at the same time. easy listening, hypnotic german female voice in most tracks. half of them in a language i don't understand. but yeah, this album is awesome. discovery of jan 2009! alternative indie pop.

ultramonotone - disappointment. expected more of them since they put japanese words all over the cover. *slaps J* ur hand cursed one. pick out junks that seem nice =x yappari it's only $1. zzzzzz. very club type of music. the headache-inducing sort. with beats and beats and random sounds and beats. ugh... but i do suppose there are other uses for the album... *throws as frisbee*

one-t - easy-listening. a mix of different genres. there's like disco, very 80s, and also more hmm... hiphop type of easy-listening chillout music, one can party with this album and wear afros and tight pants... omg! and then later do the yo yo thing. haha i quite like this album. give me some disco!

which reminds me, i saw david bowie's album, reality, that has bring me the disco king. ooo so tempted to buy but i didn't. tikum tikum gachapon albums are fun! maybe i should go back there and find more random music. dad hasn't listened to the random music i found for him. hahahahahahahha.

人々のcommitments and responsibilities.
the five o clock shadow stretches till tomorrow,
taking bites from the sundial and the sunbathing sparrow.
the finch disappears in mid chirp,
and all is eerily quiet.

aghast, i make to flee
in a crowded room where bodies can't move.
the prisoner of human traffic.

...sleepy.

O, how the lull of dreams beckons me once more...

...and dith babbled on at the insane hour of 11:27:00 PM

today...

there was this gross guy beside me on the mrt digging his FACE.
yes, every single nook and cranny, nostril and pimple crater, every bit of eyeshit and earwax and noseshit and pimple pus...
plus he was coughing.
and i had to endure it for 10 minutes until he alighted at somerset.

YUCKS!

and toothpaste is evil.
somehow the chalkier types leave a horrible residue at the back of my tongue.
and i am left with torrid breath, much harder to endure than when i do not brush my teeth (horrors!).
because it feels so industrial.

whee o wheet. i have stale chalk industrial substance breath.

ugh.

don't say it's because i don't clean my tongue. because i do.
i scrub my tongue every day.
and don't you think it's funny that when i didn't brush my teeth (shock!) it was fine? i mean, morning mouth and all, but halitosis from toothpaste is just damn fucking weird!

and now i am going to sleep.

燃えりかた

my arm/shoulder aches after carrying that plastic chest of drawers all the way home.
why i walked so fast? why i soldiered on with that bulky item?
don't tell me you are clueless with regards to the answer.
why do we soldier on in life? why do we bear the brunt of living?
why do we make so much noise over tiny things and let the big items go?
maybe it's all about the principle behind things.
sometimes, the cash value may be 50 cents, but the principle is worth 50 million.
i had wanted to smirk and roll my eyes, and then i remembered the principle of the matter.
yes, i do understand, but i am not one to stir up a huge freaking mess because i'd let it slide.
but that's you, and this is me.
you don't have to sing opera until the whole place could hear it.
in fact, i didn't see you at all today.

tough times call for drastic measures.
either i soldier on, like a fly desperately trudging forth on flypaper,
or i try to grab another piece of flypaper or buzz with all my might, in the hope that i may encounter greener pastures.
but as the saying goes, out of the frying pan and into the fire.

oh these pyres. they surround me. and i stare, confused and astounded by their beauty.
and there's Envy too.
why can't i be the one burning -- burning in passionate throes, burning in ignited ingenuity and eccentric inspiration?
where's my spark? where's my flame? where's my bonfire?
in times like these, i do wish i have the ability and the luck to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire.
sometimes the frying pan is just too far away from the heat.
nothing can simmer, nothing can coagulate. nothing is made.

suddenly i feel like eating salmon sukiyaki...
and i left my to-do list of 20+ items on my office table...

at least i got 40 pages of reading done on the mrt today.
*beams*

Musings

[0700hrs]

Contemporary Carnage

the fury of a writer
creativity stifled
penmanship hazy
stories gathering dust

trapped
in the banality
of that
to sustain life

a regular
one-third of twenty-four hour
nine-to-five
blunder of capitalism

where
the chase of time
eats away ideas
page by page

memory space
blasphemous waste
mundane gaze
of a flickering screen

cd quality white noise
buzz on the rapid transit
masses and masses
of tepid shells

mind blinding
selective suicide
of alphabets and whimsical thoughts

baby steps
shaky scribbles on jotter paper
my red ink blots.

[1400hrs]

a drippy nose improves hand-eye coordination and aim.
not once did i miss the waste paper basket.
my snotty scrunched-up balls always met their target.
thereon continues the banality.

[2300hrs]

i have taken to new interests -- or so it seems.
a new guise for the new year, perhaps.
a charitable visit to an old folks' home for the upcoming chinese new year, i considered.
and bounced it casually off my mom and sis.
careless question met with incredulous response.
again, today, my audience with raised eyebrows was once again granted.
not once, but twice.
after lunch, i regaled my colleagues with an anecdotal tale about learning to use one's head to balance on the bus from one's younger sister, accompanied with exaggerated physical demonstrations.
honestly, it really works.
i then proceeded to inform them that as a consequence of too much head-balance, i developed a crick in the neck.
unexpectedly the torrid tale received much amused (and yes, incredulous) feedback.
ho hum.
later, after work, my mom was surprised at my announcement of a new hobby.
while my sister declared it as a passing fad.

i have taken to gardening.

the irony of the situation;
the cynic within me is too sick to provide a clever retort to that.

Provence Japanese Bakery

Today went to Holland Village with mom for a multitude of reasons.
First being her search for a particular bakery located in that area.
Another being my search for my tshirt shop (which is now missing. BOOHOO)
And of course, there was dinner.

How to go there?

And they're famous for their wassants apparently.

-----edit: found another pic of the wassants-----

(courtesy external blog site)

But I didn't get to try any as most of their items were sold out when we patronised the quaint bakery/cafe at 745pm (it closes at 845pm).

Got their pound cake though (half loaf) at $2.95

and 2 cheese buns.

Other things we managed to grab were a pizza (tomatoes, cheese, sesame seed bread), macha cake,

(courtesy external blog site)

walnut flower bun (for dad)

and omg the bill came up to $9.95.

Dad's feedback on the walnut bun was positive. I'll try the macha cake tomorrow at work for breakfast.

One day I'll get my hands on that elusive wassant and let y'all know how it tastes.

Reminds me somewhat of the cute little buns at the bakery in The Central Mall basement and their cute 'stick' of green tea cake.

Gah, I sure wish I had an oven to bake from.
D:

(actually we do, but mama says no place to put -_-)

lmao way past my bed time.
g'night!

---------edit 124am---------
omg i just read online the bakery at The Central is Petit Provence, which is actually a branch of this bakery. No wonder the feeling was so similar. Kinda like baked goods deja vu =p

That means i HAVE tried the wassants! hahahaha.
Silly me.
But I'd like to try those from the main branch itself.

Might be tastier ;D~

eh. super way past my bedtime. better stop salivating over buns.

boohoo!
the t-shirt shop at holland v is missing!
woe is me!
and i'm not getting the DBH shirts cos i hate paying for shipping lol.
went mad at FOX again.
seems their sizes have become more forgiving.
because it now seems that their size 3 is rather loose now when it used to be too tight!
bought another 3 tops from them again.
final day of 50%.

thinking of going into earring/necklace design.
now to find the time to go to Art Friend.
(with someone who has discount. heh heh.)
btw joey i like ur d20 earrings =D
next time i buy from you k. hurhur.

feel like i have tons of new clothes that are hiding all over the house.
and a lot of my favorite tees are stashed at the back of the cupboard.
one of these days i must go through my wardrobe again.
too many toys, books, belongings, clothes, and who knows what else.
maybe even got stale food or half a poodle.

think if i had enough money, i'd get glass/plastic modular square boxes/shelves and use it as a wall/display piece with all my toys peering at me from within.
build false walls with sliding doors and a long metal pole to put racks and racks of clothes within.
another false wall with a foldable bed that i can pull out when i wanna sleep and keep back when i'm awake.
a little corner with cushions and a cute table for my lappie to go.
with a tiny livingcolor lamp that changes colours randomly beside me.
the walls are in shades of green, shaded and of a gradient.
cute murals with weird, morbid, alien-like creatures frolic in tiny dioramas.
all my posters/autographs/postcards etc are laminated and hanging on the wall.
my earrings hide on a sliding clear tray under a table and my bookshelf hugs the corner snugly, divided into english and japanese books.

rofl.
but i have no money.
so too bad.

my mom made me buy a purple stripy long sleeve thing today.
and i bought a hot pink long sleeve thing with laceness at the shoulders.
and a warm yellow long sleeve thing with stars and faces.
and previously, i got a bluey starry thing with a hole at the back.
and a green flower thing that's a tee but not quite a tee.
and a whitely embroidered thing on black and elasticity.

omg i am still thinking about the short red checkered skirt.
D:

next weekend i am determined to eat cake!

---------edit 1205am----------

wahahaha my sis fits the tee i bought for her from FOX!
and looks nice on her too ;3
okaes i'm gonna start on my newspaper duty now then SLEEP.
ta!

I've been tagged by Orson...

A. people who have been tagged must write their answer in their blog.
B. tag 8 people to do this quiz and those who are tagged cannot refuse.
these people must state who they are tagged by and cannot tag the person back.
C. continue this game by sending it to other people.

1.What have you been doing recently?
Not very sure either. It's been like this for the past half year. Maybe someone or perhaps you could enlighten me on what I have been doing recently? Because it sure doesn't feel like me anymore. Maybe I'm somewhere watching the-thing-that-should-be-me do things recently. But if you really must know, it's been a multitude of hectic holidays and examinations and hedonistic pursuits and work.

Fading to Normality

Well I suppose the arrival of 2009 ushers away the fervent events of the tail end of 2008. Nov/Dec was really hectic, what with all the examinations, issues to manage, people to juggle (esp in Oct/Nov), gifts to buy (yes, I do stress over that), holiday madness and of course the emotional ups and downs.

Now that 2009 is here, it looks like my life will go back into the usual routine of japa classes, work, and the occasional meet-ups. I do suppose new developments of the year are work (which has been part of my routine from 7/7/08) and Saturday afternoon sessions of Dungeons & Dragons. Perhaps the adjustment of my japa classes from 420pm to 2pm on Sundays also count toward the changes for the new year.

Am currently considering to add to the haphazard heap dance lessons or some random activity, more time alloted for intellectual reading and the pursuit of my hobbies.

Only a matter of 23 days mark the advent of Chinese Lunar New Year. This means it will officially be the year of the Ox, which some say is the Golden Ox and thus a special year, but also others say it is 'fan4 tai4 sui4' which I think means a clashing of the zodiac, so I got to be on the alert this year.

What really bugs me is that the area beneath my left eye (ie my eyebag area) keeps twitching and involuntarily jumping since Friday. So gawddamn annoying and also unnerving. Don't know who the hell or what the hell has been cursing/scolding me. And so vehemently so.

Joined J, Joey and Bob for D&D session this afternoon. Thought could get away scott-free from paying for ice tea (teh ais), but Bob was broke and money was silently demanded so I paid up. Boo. How come the people that have the potential to be leeched off are always so broke? Sad.

J was DM-ing so couldn't get the chance to irritate him. So irritated Bob and somehow Joey helped too =x Let's hope next session can somehow further bully his character which has 6hp left =x low con D:

J wanted feedback on the D&D session so I will try to provide necessary inputs.
Unlike play-by-post, it's probably more randomly spontaneous and can zig zag all over the place, but then again, chances for player cooperation are higher (and also under the table transactions/wagers/alliances). More chaotic I would suppose, which appeals to a CN like myself.
Is it a bit 'cheater' to reveal information by mere virtue that a single player has high spotcheck or high wisdom? But also good lah =x hmm but imagine if we were playing enemy sides -- the situation may be evilly contorted to our foes' advantage.
It's more real-time and more conversational, which can be a good and bad thing.
The game can progress further, there's probably more going on that will make the scenario more entertaining, and the repartee already in place between the players can lead to hilarious outcomes.
One thing that is missed is the more thought usually given to play-by-post games, and the easy reference/archival that can be done for forum posts. Which can lead to novellas or books being published in the future.
Another thing about real time D&D games is that it provokes quicker thinking. No chance for games to be made stale and held back due to the fault of MIA players.
One other thing good for the DM/players is the added dimension of being able to detect body language and signals between players. hahaha I suppose to give it a further dimension, it would have to be called LARP (live action role playing I think) -- break out the costumes people!
Hmm all in all, I did enjoy the session, unfortunately extremely distracted with my twitching eye.
And where the hell are my dice!

Now with that out of the way, let me proceed to the later events of the day. We walked all the way to Liang Court for dinner. OMG it's been ages since I've had my Wafu Dashi Karee Udon. (Beef Curry Udon) Bloated because I finished every single strand of noodle and all the curry (LOL) until the huge bowl was empty (omg I feel sick yet satisfied. sickly satisfied o: ugh...)

Somehow I've developed quite a fetish for all things discounted. Especially sushi/dessert/tasty food/shopping items like clothes, bags, accessories. Discount Fetish D: Freebie Fetish. omg omg omg.

Imagine how excited I was when we reached the sushi section and the discount labels were already slapped onto the boxes and boxes of sushi. OMG. So I grabbed a basket and looted awesome sushi before someone else grabbed them.

From L-R:
1. Salmon Belly Sashimi (U.P. $10.50, disc. $6)
2. Salmon Belly Sushi (U.P. $5.60, disc. $4.20)
3. Natto Sushi -- mom's fave, no one else eats (U.P. $2.40, disc. $1.50)
4. Unagi Sushi (U.P. $6 something, disc $4.60)

I think I saved about $8 in total!

Still dreaming about 1-for-1 milkshakes at Billy Bombers, 50% Waffle/Cheesecake, Ribs, Kurobuta katsu, Haato ice cream, Food for Thought cake, colleague's tiramisu, panda cookies, churros, mu's father's yam abacus beads and so on and so forth... Not to mention I ate kueh blanda today (love letters) and CNY is coming so am dreaming of Makmur, Kueh Bangkit, Bak Kua, Yu Sheng and what have you...

Food food food... and did I mention I'm actually extremely bloated right now after eating sushi/sashimi with my sis/mom/dad? OMG but the salmon belly sashimi was so fatty and awesome. Kinda sad didn't manage to nab us a tray of Mekajiki sashimi (swordfish). Our new addiction; ever since evil me introduced it to mom and sis. heh heh.

Baka hebi actually had the audacity to ask me out on new year's day. Left him hanging by giving him non-replies and then forgetting to reply. Yes yes, I'm gonna cultivate my mean streak for 2009. And try to uncultivate my chubby belly X_X ack.
Must... Stop... Eating...

Yatta and it's 4 Jan 2009. Happy Bdae Mu!
24 D:

Yay and going Metro expo sale with mom. Discounts! Bargains! Sales! Lots of pushing and shoving with aunties! Go figure!
